What is a Learnership?
A learnership is a training programme that includes both theoretical and practical components. Training is conducted over a 12 month period with the goal of developing specific skills or competencies leading to a National Qualifications Framework (NQF). A learnership involves three major players:
The Learner
Every learnership will have prerequisites that the learner must meet to be considered for the opportunity.
The Employer
The employer is responsible for sponsoring and providing the work experience component of the learnership. Learners will receive workplace training, guidance, and mentoring to help them understand and carry out their roles in the organization for the duration of their learnership.
The Training Provider
The training provider “provides the learner with theoretical or institutional training in accordance with the qualification.” This is done in a classroom or online setting.
What We Offer
The fundamental goal of Learnerships is to bridge the gap between current education and labour market demand. Learnerships provide vocational training that is critical to skills development and employability, and for this reason they are seen as a priority element in the B-BBEE Codes of Good
Practice.
