Description of the role 

The People Consultant provides deep support, HR & ER expertise and advice using a coaching framework. The role involves a wide array of engagements: leaders around performance management, talent acquisition, mobility, succession, talent retention, learning and development and employee relations.

Description of the skill and experience required 

  • Consult across the employee lifecycle, in partnership with P&O Leads and as required, relevant P&O specialisations
  • Ensure the employee experience is entrenched in Investec’s culture
  • Partner with business areas to formulate ideas, optimize solutions and enable people strategies
  • Consult and coach on:
    • Recruitment and onboarding
    • Performance and conduct
    • Transformation
    • Facilitation and implementation of people strategies
    • Leverage and use of internal skills and talent (internal mobility)
    • Succession planning
    • Career pathing guidance and facilitation
    • Reward as pertains to processes such as retention, recruitment, people strategies etc.
  • Recruitment:
    • Partner with Global Sourcing team and Leaders to design the sourcing process
    • Facilitate the selection and placement of shortlisted candidates
    • Facilitate internal mobility and transfers
  • Employee Relations:
    • Manage retrenchment, misconduct, poor performance, grievances, and retirement processes
  • Deep understanding of the culture, its artifacts & practices
  • Breadth of knowledge and experience in relation to people management
  • Commerciality and an appreciation of the regulatory environment
  • Coaching and consulting skills
