Job Description
- Customer Service:
- Greet customers as they enter the store or approach the sales counter
- Attending to direct & telephonic customers’ product and service inquiries
- Knowledge of products and services offered to provide technical information and recommendations to customers to induce sales and a satisfactory post-purchase experience
- Upsell or cross-sell additional products to enrich customers productivity and to ensure that products in the warehouse are within spec
- Handling of customer queries in a friendly and efficient manner
- Sales Transactions:
- Conducting sales at the cash counter or point-of-sale system to process sales transactions
- Processing credit card payments, bank transfers, credit sales, and other forms of payments accurately according to set guidelines
- Issue receipts and process refunds or exchanges
- Cash Handling
- Ensuring safe custody of cash according to set guidelines
- Conducting ad hoc and periodical cash counts
- Conducting cash reconciliations
- Records & Reporting
- Maintaining accurate records of all sales transactions
- Producing & submitting accurate and timely daily sales reports
- Inventory Management:
- Making recommendations to the Branch Manager on products and quantities for stocking based on demand trends and inquiries
- Monitoring inventory levels to initiate restocking
- Ensuring neat and attractive display of products in the display shelves
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Ensuring that all counter sales operations comply with occupational health and safety standards as set out by the company, and Ministry of Health from time to time
Conducting safety audits and inspections at the counter and sales area to identify and mitigate risks
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Sales & Marketing/Business Administration/Accounting/Agriculture
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with Previous experience in retail, customer service, or a related field
