Purpose of the Role

The Computer Operator (Mainframe) role is responsible for monitoring, operating, and reporting on mainframe production schedules to ensure high system availability and reliable service delivery to government clients and users.

This position requires shift work, including weekends, overtime, and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mainframe task scheduling and production monitoring
  • Mainframe administration and system housekeeping

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • National Higher Certificate (1–2 years) in an ICT-related field, or

Experience

  • 1–2 years’ experience in a Support or End User Computing environment, or
  • 1–2 years’ experience as a Computer Operator in a similar environment

Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge of mainframe systems and operations
  • Mainframe administration and housekeeping skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Willingness and ability to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays
