REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12. -Code 08 Driver’s License will be an added advantage. -Studying towards a qualification in Library & Information Science will be an added advantage. Computer Certificate (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint).
-Excellent Communication & Interpersonal skills. -Skills and competencies associated with vocation: adaptability, communication, assertiveness/leadership skills, conflict and stress management, negotiation skills, problem solving skills, office/diary management skills, strong administrative skills, writing and typing skills, attention to detail.
-A hard-working self-disciplined person with excellent communication and literature skills. -2 – 3 years’ experience in a Public Library or Administration within Local Government Authority.
DUTIES
-Perform counter duties and assist in the provision of outreach services by: -Receiving and issuing library material and rendering of service. -Register new members: completing membership cards if qualifying as member. -Provide information to learners and general users. -Reader guidance and reading promotion programmes. -Shelving books in an alphabetical order and according to standardised library systems.
-Perform administrative duties by: -Making photocopies, processing fines, handle all telephone enquiries, process renewals, recording statistics, processing periodical and newspapers. -Responsible for stock control (stationery and cleaning materials).
-Covering and mending of damaged books. -Successful candidates will be expected to perform work on Saturdays. -Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time.
SALARY: Total Cost to company R395,369.84 p.a
